It’s heartbreaking when I see taxpayer money wasted. I think of the families who worked hard to earn that money, money that could be better used to put food on the table or pay that month’s rent.

At a time when working families are already paying too much due to the rising cost of living, and spending more money on groceries, gas, activities, people shouldn’t have to worry that their tax dollars are getting lost in the shuffle of bureaucracy.

As Will County Treasurer, I will scrutinize every dollar and compare budgets to actual costs to eliminate waste.

I will consolidate outdated systems, because right now the county executive, treasurer, and auditor all work off their own systems, driving up costs and confusion.

I will protect accountability for salaries and hiring, making sure the county administrators getting paid well over market value are providing taxpayers with good enough service to earn their salaries.

And I will attend every relevant budget and finance meetings where the budget, spending, or investing is discussed to provide real-time financial perspectives for each decision that is made so the board can evaluate whether that spending is beneficial to the public as they make decisions.

Finally, I will push for merging the county’s treasurer and auditor offices. This reform has proven to reduce costs, improve transparency, and strengthen accountability. Although it may lead to the elimination of my position, then so be it because it would be the right thing to do for the taxpayers.
